Vintage Rare Heathkit HA-14 Kompact Kilowatt Linear Amp
Clean looking and working Heathkit HA-14 1 kilowatt amp. Covers 80, 40, 20, 15, 10 using a pair of 572B's. I tested the HA-14 using my Heathkit HP-24 and driving it with an Icom 718. First with 50 then 70 watts CW mode on 40 meters 7.192, 40 meter 3 wire inverted V antenna. My bench wattmeter showed 500 watts with 70 watts drive. That's typical for a pair of aging 572b's or 811's on this antenna with no tuner. I switched modes to SSB. Although this linear was designed for SSB, you can run CW with no problem. Just watch your duty cycle. That's all the testing I did. My recommendation is a good cleaning and some Deoxit (or better). The case color is very good except around the 572b's were the heat has caused discoloration.
A great piece for restoration. There could be other issues with the unit that are yet to be discovered.
